Travel

How to get to our Crewe Campus

Crewe is a railway town and civil parish within the borough of Cheshire East; 35 miles (56km) south of Manchester and 158 miles (254 km) north of London. It has excellent road and rail connections to both the north and south of England, as well as to North Wales.

Our university campus is less than a mile from Crewe Station.

By road

Use the M6 exiting at junction 16 followed by the A500 and then the A5020 to reach Crewe, or exit the M6 at junction 17 and follow the A534 to Crewe.

By train

You can reach Crewe from London Euston, in just over an hour and a half using Avanti West Coast services towards Manchester Piccadilly / Liverpool Lime Street / Chester; there is also a West Midlands service towards Crewe which takes just over 2 hours.

From the northwest, you can use the reverse Avanti West Coast services towards London Euston from Manchester, Liverpool, and Chester.

By air

From Heathrow airport, take the Heathrow Underground to London Euston. Then take an overground train route north, as outlined above.

From Gatwick airport, take bus 26 from the North Terminal (stop 4) to Stockwell Station, followed by the Underground (Victoria Line) to London Euston. Then take an overground train route north, as outlined above.

From Manchester airport, there is a Northern train every hour from the airport train station to Crewe; the journey takes approximately 40 minutes.

From Birmingham airport, there are four services an hour from Birmingham International to Crewe; journey times vary from 1 hour 11 minutes to 1 hour 31 minutes.

Commuting to Crewe

  1. WHERE CAN I PARK?

The Crewe campus has a large car park which is free to use for students who are commuting and would like to park on-site. The campus is barrier controlled and if you are driving you will need to speak to reception at the campus to get your card activated to open the barriers.

(There is a button they can press which reception can then answer to let them on campus, but it is a lot easier if they get their card activated!)

  2. CAN I MAKE LUNCH ON CAMPUS?

Yes, you can make lunch on campus the International Bar and Café has microwaves that you can use to heat your food. There is also hot food available here as well.

  3. WHERE CAN I SPEND TIME BETWEEN LECTURES OR EVENTS?

The international bar and café in the centre of the campus is a fantastic place for students to relax between lectures. It is also a place where you can socialise and study.

  4. WHAT ARE THE LOCAL BUS ROUTES?

If you go onto travelline.com they will be able to help plan your journey in and around Crewe when using public transport.

Another useful website is the local authority website which is:

    https://www.cheshireeast.gov.uk/public_transport/bus/bus_service_timetables.aspx

This website shows all local bus links and bus numbers.

Crewe Bus station in the middle of the town centre also has an office where you will be able to find maps and bus routes of the local area.

  5. WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO A COMMUTER STUDENT?

Make the most of asking questions when you can. For example, at Registration, talk to everyone and make yourself feel comfortable with what is happening next before you head home! Don’t be afraid to ask questions, all the staff and current students are more than happy to help; if you want to talk to a student, a lecturer or a mentor just talk to them! Get involved with as much as you can! Make friends with people who live on campus that you can stay the night with after evening events!

Sports

There are a wide variety of sports clubs and gyms in the local area which students can take part in. Speak to Andy Young about anything you are interested in and we will match your interest to a local club.
