Together with the Vice Presidents, the President ensures that students are represented at every level within the University, locally and nationally, and oversees the effective day to day running of the Students' Union. The President’s further responsibilities include leading the strategic processes of the organisation, and attending council, the Universities highest governing body.

The Vice President: Student Voice ensures that the student opinion is taken into account at every level throughout the University and manages the Academic Reps. The Vice President: Student Voice also oversees and ensures effective democracy within the Union.

The Vice President: Student Communities is responsible for all Union led social activity and works closely with the Student Networks, Societies and Sports teams to generate the Students' Union events programme.

International Students Network Lead

Your Union's Networks are specifically designed to help represent the diversity of the University of Buckingham's varied student body by recognising our students' various backgrounds, identities and current study locations. Via any of the Networks that best describe you, you can add your voice and help our different groups be heard in the crowd.

Role Overview:

  • The International Students Network Lead is responsible for advocating for the rights and well-being of international students. They must ensure the whole network is able to fulfil this responsibility as well.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a liaison between international students, the students' union and university administration.
  • Lead and facilitate open network meetings in order to garner the collective view of network members on what issues exist that concern the network, and what actions can take place.
  • To ensure the voice of the network members are relayed onto the SU Executive Team and thereafter the University.
  • Organise actions, events and initiatives to facilitate cultural exchange and integration for international students, ensuring the University is doing everything it can to make adjusting to living in the UK for international students, as smooth a process as possible.
  • Advocate for fair treatment and resource allocation for international students.
  • Provide assistance and guidance to international students regarding academic and cultural adjustment matters.
  • Collaborate with international student organisations and related university departments.

LGBTQ+ Network Lead

Your Union's Networks are specifically designed to help represent the diversity of the University of Buckingham's varied student body by recognising our students' various backgrounds, identities and current study locations. Via any of the Networks that best describe you, you can add your voice and help our different groups be heard in the crowd.

Role Overview:

  • The LGBTQ+ Students Network Lead aims towards representing, creating an inclusive environment and advocating for all students underneath the LGBTQ+ umbrella within the university community and ensures the Network as a whole is capable of doing so.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary point of contact and spokesperson for LGBTQ+ students' concerns and issues.
  • Lead and facilitate open network meetings in order to garner the collective view of network members on what issues exist that concern the network, and what actions can take place.
  • To ensure the voice of the network members are relayed onto the SU Executive Team and thereafter the University.
  • Organise actions, meetings, and awareness campaigns that promote LGBTQ+ inclusivity and raise awareness of LGBTQ+ issues.
  • Collaborate with the SU, relevant university departments and organisations to advance LGBTQ+ rights and representation on campus.
  • Work closely with the Students' Union and other student groups to ensure LGBTQ+ voices are heard and respected.

Mature Students Network Lead

Your Union's Networks are specifically designed to help represent the diversity of the University of Buckingham's varied student body by recognising our students' various backgrounds, identities and current study locations. Role Overview:

  • The Mature and Carers Students Network Lead is responsible for advocating for the unique needs and concerns of mature students and student-parents or carers within the university community and nationally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent the interests and challenges faced by mature students, student-parents, and carers.
  • Lead and facilitate open network meetings in order to garner the collective view of network members on what issues exist that concern the network, and what actions can take place.
  • To ensure the voice of the network members are relayed onto the SU Executive Team and thereafter the University.
  • Assist in organising events, workshops, and actions tailored to the specific needs of mature students and those balancing their studies with caregiving responsibilities.
  • Collaborate with university departments to ensure that policies and support services are inclusive of mature students and carers.

Inclusion Network Lead

Your Union's Networks are specifically designed to help represent the diversity of the University of Buckingham's varied student body by recognising our students' various backgrounds, identities and current study locations. Role Overview:

  • The Inclusion Network Lead is responsible for advocating for disability, racial and cultural diversity and inclusion within the university. They must ensure the whole network is able to fulfil this responsibility as well

Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent the interests and concerns of racially, culturally and ability diverse students.
  • Lead and facilitate open network meetings in order to garner the collective view of network members on what issues exist that concern the network, and what actions can take place.
  • To ensure the voice of the network members are relayed onto the SU Executive Team and thereafter the University.
  • Organise actions/events, meetings, and discussions to promote cross-cultural understanding and address issues related to racial diversity.
  • Collaborate with the Students' Union and University to develop and implement inclusive policies and practices.
  • Foster an environment of respect and celebration of diverse cultures and abilities.

Sustainability Network Lead

Your Union's Networks are specifically designed to help represent the diversity of the University of Buckingham's varied student body by recognising our students' various backgrounds, identities and current study locations. Via any of the Networks that best describe you or allign with your values, you can add your voice and help our different groups be heard in the crowd.

Role Overview:

  • The Sustainability Network Lead is responsible for promoting sustainable practice across campus and advocating for the consideration of new green initiatives at the University. They must ensure the whole network is able to fulfil this responsibility as well.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advocate for sustainable improvements on campus, including but not limited to physical infrastructure and digital resources.
  • Lead and facilitate open network meetings in order to garner the collective view of network members on what issues exist that concern the network, and what actions can take place.
  • To ensure the voice of the network members are relayed onto the SU Executive Team and thereafter the University.
  • Organise awareness campaigns and events related to sustainability.
  • Collaborate with relevant university departments (such as Estates).
  • Ensure the University is providing necessary resources in a sustainable way.
  • Promote a campus culture that values sustainability.

Women's Network Lead

Your Union's Networks are specifically designed to help represent the diversity of the University of Buckingham's varied student body by recognising our students' various backgrounds, identities and current study locations. Role Overview:

  • The Women's Network Lead is responsible for advocating for the rights and well-being of women and promoting gender equality within the university. They must ensure the whole network is able to fulfil this responsibility as well.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent the interests and concerns of students who identify as women, including issues related to gender equality, safety, and empowerment.
  • Lead and facilitate open network meetings in order to garner the collective view of network members on what issues exist that concern the network, and what actions can take place.
  • To ensure the voice of the network members are relayed onto the SU Executive Team and thereafter the University.
  • Organise meetings, actions, and campaigns focused on gender equality, women's rights, and related topics.
  • Foster a campus culture that values and supports the full participation and leadership of women in all aspects of university life, both in Buckingham and nationally too.

Business, Humanities and Social Sciences Liaison

Role Overview:

  • The Faculty/Campus liaison is responsible for facilitating communication and collaboration between the student union and various academic faculties within a university. Their primary objective is to ensure that student concerns, ideas, and initiatives are effectively conveyed to faculty members and that the student union can work closely with the faculties to address student-related issues. They work in partnership with your the Vice President of Student Voice, to facilitate academic rep meetings.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Attend the faculty board meeting (happens once a term), providing a student voice, and feeding back to the students afterwards.
  • Seek informed feedback from peers e.g., on topics such as teaching and learning, assessment, feedback, or learning facilities. 
  • Facilitate collaboration between the SU and the faculty administrative teams.
  • To support the work of the Academic Representatives in your faculty providing them with broader insights across disciplines. 
  • Contribute to the Students’ Union more broadly, such as through attending democratic meetings such as Student Council.

  • Help the SU organise campus-specific events, activities, and support services.
  • Promote a sense of community and belonging among Crewe campus students.

  • Contribute to the Students’ Union more broadly, such as through attending democratic meetings such as Student Council.
