BSU President Update 2022

BSUsportstudentsvolunteer

Good day everyone,

We are just over halfway through the last term of this year, freshers events are complete and the sports union is thriving in this environment of new talent, skill, and dedication that you all bring to your respective clubs.

This time last year, we were struggling with the recovery of sports participation and transitioning to in person classes. Thankfully this year we are growing faster than ever before. We have 150 members in the sports union to date, 50 more than last year.

This freshers season we were able to showcase our sports clubs at the OTM without the covid restrictions that previously interrupted our plans. We are grateful to all the current executives as well as the past executives who got involved in the setup and running of freshers fair both in Buckingham and in Crewe.

Over the last year we have accomplished many great things ranging from the Chancellor’s Cup (which business and humanities won overall) to the external sport submission portal (for the celebration of sports not held in the university). Furthermore, we have held a variety of sports each week to expand the interest of our members and encourage health and fitness amongst students.

An exciting few weeks lie ahead with the election season in full swing. The BSU looks forward to the coming executives and encourages the students to vote objectively. If you have any questions about how to cast your vote or who is in the running, do not hesitate to call Jean, Eleanor, Martha, or myself. Make sure to purchase your BSU membership to vote.

Good luck to all the second year students who are about to do their final exams for their degrees. And good luck to everyone else in achieving physical and academic success throughout your time at Buckingham.
