Buckingham Campus De-Stress Fest

de-stress

De-Stress Fest is a bi annual event at the University of Buckingham that aims to help students to unwind, relax and get as prepared as possible for their upcoming exams.

We held the first De-Stress Fest of the year over 3 days this time around, to fit in the maximum number of events and encourage as many students (and staff) to get involved.

We kicked things off with our, much loved, Animal Interaction which is part funded and hosted by the Friends of the University. We had almost 90 students attend and some really great feedback. Watch out for this one returning in November! We also had massage therapists in to give relaxing massages to those students lucky enough to book a slot! Both were to the backdrop of some chilled music provided by our Music Society.

The second day had highlights such as our smoothie bike. The aim of this was to show students that healthy nutrition and regular exercise are vital to a healthy mind. We also had the Academic Skills department hold a drop in session at the Tanlaw Mill for any students wanting to learn more about revision techniques and handling exam stress. The second day also featured a fantastic Pottery Painting event hosted by our Art society. This chilled out session had students taking time out of their hectic revision to quietly paint mugs which have been sent off to be glazed and fired and will return just in time for our students to have a celebratory cup of tea after their exams!

On the final day, the weather held up nicely and our very own BSU hosted a Sports Fest on the lawn with plenty of physical activity and games, it was a great way for our students to unwind. Our Psychology society were also keen to get involved and hosted a social picnic at the OTM with all invited. Last but not least, we enjoyed some gardening in the sun and have developed a previously unused patch of soil behind the OTM refectory which we will invite students to take care of for years to come.

We would like to thank everyone who made De-Stress Fest possible this time around and we very much looking forward to seeing it grow even bigger in the future.  You can see more photos from the event here.

p.s Watch out for De Stress Fest coming to Crewe Campus and Verney Park too!
