Crewe Campus Introduces its First Student Ambassadors

In what is a big step for the University of Buckingham, the Crewe campus has appointed its first Student Ambassadors. Second-year Biomedical Science students Alicia and Matthew will begin their roles on March 1st over in Crewe and have taken a few minutes out of their day to talk us through what they hope to achieve from the experience.

Alicia

Why did you apply for the role of Student Ambassador?

"Being one of the first students at Crewe was exciting and I wanted to be able to share my experiences to help prospective students see the benefits of this new campus."

How do you feel about the introduction of ambassadors at Crewe?

"I think student ambassadors in general play a very important role in introducing prospective students to university life, be it academic or social, and Crewe has massive potential to thrive. Introducing student ambassadors will allow a realistic and exciting view of what the new campus has to offer."

How do you think this will help advance the culture at Crewe?

"With more students attending the new campus, a real sense of university life can be introduced and will liven up the area and create a dynamic and vibrant atmosphere for everyone to enjoy and succeed in."

One of the main roles of ambassadors is to promote the University, in keeping with that, what is your favourite thing to promote at the university?

"The learning/ teaching style and the environment is truly amazing. As a student, you are treated fairly and given the opportunity to explore your strengths and interests all while receiving the necessary help from experienced professors who care, in any aspect of your academic career. Overall, the educational approach is my favourite part of the university as it reconfirms and guides your progress, all while aiding you to achieve your best."

Matthew

Why did you apply for the role of Student Ambassador?

"To me, the role of student ambassador gives me a chance to contribute back to the university. I think deciding the university you go to is such a key decision in a person’s life and the unique method of teaching at Buckingham would be of benefit to so many students and my role helps me to get as many of those students to this university as possible, giving them the same unique opportunities, I’ve received."

How do you feel about the introduction of ambassadors at Crewe?

"I feel it’s a massive step in advancing towards making the Crewe campus like our main campus down in Buckingham. I think Student ambassadors like the Student Union are a

strong reflection of student life at any university and by strengthening these components we’re making the campus a more vibrant and social place which goes a long way in making our Crewe campus as attractive as possible to prospective students."

How do you think this will help advance the culture at Crewe?

"I think Student Ambassadors will play a key role in advancing the culture of our Crewe campus. As I’ve mentioned before, ambassadors are involved in trying to encourage people to join our university and by getting more students into Crewe, we can help diversify the campus and as I said before try to build the same environment we have at the main campus in Buckingham. Getting more students into the campus will also lead to more clubs and societies being run which will make huge leaps in the campus’ culture and attractiveness to students."

One of the main roles of ambassadors is to promote the University, in keeping with that, what is your favourite thing to promote at the university?

"I think the biggest thing that attracted me to the University is the small group teaching and this is something that is further emphasised in our up-and-coming Crewe campus. I think being able to get to know nearly all your cohort is exclusive to Buckingham and to me this is our biggest strength. So, if I was to encourage just one thing about the university it would be the small group teaching that helps you to build stronger relationships with your peers and your tutors."
