I have been a student at the university for the last 3 years and have enjoyed being involved in university activities throughout my time here. I have done so through sports activities and social clubs. For instance, I have taken up the position of interim executive at the university’s badminton club while the other executives are on break. I really enjoyed being a part of the exec team of the club. On top of being able to get better at the sport, I also really enjoyed polishing my leadership skills.
Throughout my three years at the University, I was able to meet a lot of different students with different backgrounds and interests. This has helped me realise what they need in addition to making their university experience what they deserve it to be - unforgettable. These could be done through monthly feedback polls from the students on their thoughts on the events thus far and regular meetings with society executives on their ideas for events.
My goals for the year would include finding more engaging events that could appeal to the different social interests of students at the university. For instance, I continue the girls' night and possibly run it bi-termly and in a bid to make it more inclusive introduce a boy’s night which would allow the male-identifying students at the university to come to have a space where they could address issues that concern them at the university. I also think a recognition of the national days would be a great addition to the student activities considering the multicultural and diverse student body at the university representing over 100 countries which could also help students feel at home.
Thank you for taking the time to read my manifesto and I look forward to working with the student body
