SU President - Kamva Gcaza
Welcoming new students to campus is always refreshing. They bring new energy, different stories and challenge us to think outside the box. It has been a pleasure getting to know so many of you and putting on events and activities to help you settle into university life, meet new people and get to know us at the Students’ Union, as well as our beloved University of Buckingham. I hope you have thoroughly enjoyed everything we have delivered this Freshers and that you are beginning to feel at home here. So, what’s next?
There is plenty to look forward to over the coming weeks, and you can keep up to date with our activities, events and latest updates through the Students’ Union website. One of our upcoming highlights is the Students’ Union Town Hall, taking place on Wednesday 4 November 2026, from 5pm to 6pm in the Vinson Building Auditorium.
The Town Hall is an opportunity for you to hear directly from your Students’ Union about recent developments, how we represent your interests and the issues we are currently advocating for to help improve the student experience. It is also an opportunity to engage directly with university leadership. We want to create an open and welcoming space where students can raise questions, share their experiences and seek answers on the issues that matter to them. Whether you have questions about university life, academic matters, student wellbeing or the wider student experience, this is your opportunity to have your voice heard and be part of the conversation. Come along for a conversation, gain some insight into what is happening across the University, share your views and enjoy some refreshments with us. We look forward to seeing you there!
In the meantime, make the most of everything university life has to offer, get involved, try something new and never hesitate to reach out to your Students’ Union. We are here to represent you, support you and help make your time at Buckingham as rewarding as possible.
VP Student Voice - Maneeka Bhujun
Freshers' weeks are finally over, but those weeks are one of the most tiring and rewarding part of my job. I love the buzz and excitement of new students! From meeting you all on your registration day to singing songs at Karaoke with you, I, quite frankly cannot choose one event that stood out as I loved all of them. Your enthusiastic participation in all our events was probably my highlight.
Being involved with your Students' Union will only enhance your university experience. I hope all of you continue to engage with our activities as those deadlines creep up and those lectures get bulkier.
Now your academic journey begins. Lectures are underway, deadlines are on the horizon, and there's laundry to learn. Pace yourself, ask for help early, and keep saying yes to the new experiences.
As always, I encourage you to be loud! Welcome to university. You've got this!
VP Student Communities - Lydia Offei
It’s been a busy few weeks, from helping students find their way to classes, hosting many different events, to answering questions about all the amazing sports clubs and societies on offer. It’s been such a pleasure to meet so many new faces and welcome everyone into our community!
Looking ahead, there’s so much to be excited about this term! We have some fantastic events coming up, including Girls Night In and Guys Night In. Whether you’re looking to socialise, meet new people, enjoy a relaxed evening or take a well-deserved break from studying, there’s something for everyone to get involved in. I’ll also be hosting my weekly Crafternoon in the OTM every Wednesday afternoon, so if you fancy getting creative, meeting new people or simply taking some time for yourself, why not pop along and give it a go? Best of all, it’s completely free!
Make sure to keep an eye on the What’s On page to stay up to date on what we’ve got on offer – bring your friends along and get involved wherever you can!
