On Sunday 14th May, Josh Luchmun, Korfball Club President was awarded an England Korfball Merit award for this contribution to the sport in Buckingham. The award was presented at the England Korfball Grand Finals which were held at UEA SportsPark.
Josh was nominated for this award by Darren Gray who has supported and encouraged Josh through his work with Buckingham Royals Korfball Club. Josh established the university club in 2022 after a year of encouraging his fellow students to play and train with Royals Korfball Club. Josh has also become a qualified referee and is heavily involved in the local korfball scene for both university and club. Through his hard work and leadership the university club has over 30 paid members with a core group playing in the local league and some representing Royals Korfball Club as well.
In March 2023 - the university Korfball Club held a charity tournament which engaged almost 50 students and raised over £200 for charity. Josh has supported his teammates and fellow students and the club is now one of the strongest at the university.
