On Monday 2nd March and after 6 months of planning it was finally time for the much awaited netball vs cricket showdown. There was a great turnout with everyone keen to see the talent on display, particularly the netball skills that the Knights promised to deliver. However, it was the Buckingham Tornadoes who got off to the better start, moving the ball nicely down the court, despite some unorthodox yet effective defence from the Knights. As the game progressed, the Knights warmed into things nicely, finding a bit of a flow in attack as they properly came to terms with the rules of the game (offside and stepping proved particularly challenging). Despite a big effort from the team, including a torn Achilles for superstar shooter Tej, it wasn't quite enough to get over the line and the Tornadoes ran out winners with a final score of 19-6.
As part of our charity match this year the teams were fundraising for Action For Children, who do amazing work for vulnerable children around the UK. Thank you to everyone's generosity they raised £198 which is an awesome effort! Huge thanks to everyone involved for such a fun afternoon which definitely exceeded expectations, we're already looking forward to Round 2.
