Pride Month 2025 ๐
Pride Month is a time to celebrate love, identity, and the progress made toward LGBTQIA+ rights and inclusion. This year, our Pride Month theme was Education ๐ง ๐, with weekly infographics designed to inform, engage, and spark thoughtful conversations. Week one focused on Pride history, highlighting key moments in the LGBTQIA+ rights movement. Week two explored Pride language, promoting understanding of inclusive terms and identities. Week three brought lightness with fun facts about the LGBTQIA+ community’s global presence and contributions. Finally, week four empowered everyone with tips on how to be proactive allies in everyday life. We also had weekly posts on our Instagram ๐ณ๏ธ๐ [go check them!].
Although June is traditionally celebrated as Pride Month, we organised our main event—the Pride Happy Hour—during the first week of the third term in July, as many were away during the summer holidays. This gave everyone the chance to come together, reconnect, and celebrate in a vibrant, welcoming space.
To mark the occasion, the refractory was beautifully decorated in Pride colors โค๏ธ๐งก๐๐๐๐, creating an inclusive atmosphere that reflected the spirit of the month. Through these initiatives, we aimed to not only celebrate Pride but also educate and build a more informed, supportive community for all.
Round Table with Dr Jack Doyle ๐
The 2025 Pride month at the University of Buckingham ended with a round table with Dr Jack Doyle and of course, with some snacks as well. The round table was focused on mental health. He was very open to answering questions from our students and sharing his own experiences. This gave the opportunity for students to learn more about the LGBTQ+ experience ๐ณ๏ธ๐. It was a very insightful and enriching experience.
Big thank you to the SU (Sabbs and Sarah), the LGBTQ+ network lead (Max) and to Dr Doyle.
Stay Proud โค๏ธ๐งก๐๐๐๐
