Sporting Success at BUCS South East Development Champs

On Wednesday 29th April our netball, volleyball and tennis clubs travelled to Surrey Sports Park to compete at the BUCS South East Development Championships.  With one netball team, two volleyball teams and five tennis players we were well represented and looking forward to a fun day of sport.

Volleyball was very competitive and the sports hall had a brilliant atmosphere with twelve teams competing from six different universities.  The team spirit shown from both our teams was excellent with the teams celebrating every successful point.

Heading outside to tennis where we had mens doubles pairings as well as a mixed doubles pairing.  Again the atmosphere was great with speakers blaring music and lots of excellent tennis on display.  Our mixed doubles pairing of Simi and Aiden placed third which was a great achievement.

Staying outside and our netball team competed against five other teams in a round robin tournament.  An excellent display from the team saw them crowned the winners having won four out of their five matches - great result!!

Saniya Kumar, BSU President: "Playing in the BUCS netball tournament was an unforgettable experience for our team, and being crowned winners made it even more special. The day was amazing—full of energy, excitement, and true team spirit from start to finish. We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to take part in such a competitive and rewarding event, and it meant so much to us to represent The University of Buckingham. We were proud to step onto the court, give it our all, and share such a memorable achievement together."

This was a brilliant day for Buckingham and a great experience for our clubs.  A huge thank you to our club executives who supported on the day as well as the BSU team who helped make the event possible.
