VP Student Voice
This spring term has been full of meaningful activity and engagement across campus. As Vice President, I’ve continued to build student community through our weekly Monday night quiz events, which have become a staple social highlight and a fun way to bring students together.
On the wellbeing front, I led a mental health awareness campaign aimed at promoting support, open conversations, and wellbeing resources across campus. It was fantastic to see students get involved and prioritise mental health.
Academically, I was proud to organise and chair our first full student council meeting, bringing together academic reps from all faculties. We discussed best practices, encouraged cross-faculty collaboration, and laid the groundwork for stronger student representation.
Additionally, I sat on a number of university committees to advocate for student interests and worked with the rest of the SU team to deliver the Spring Town Hall, where students had the opportunity to raise key concerns, including examinations and campus life, directly with senior university leadership.
Looking ahead, I’m excited to keep building momentum and ensure student voices remain at the heart of university decisions.
VP Communities
๐ต๏ธโ๏ธ Treasure Hunt with Music Soc: Cardio Meets Clue-Chasing
We kicked things off with a Buckingham-wide Treasure Hunt. Co-hosted with the Music Society (yes, music and mystery; it’s Sherlock with a soundtrack), the prize was a glorious £25 Amazon voucher.
๐ข NUS: Where I Became a Digital Crusader
I infiltrated the NUS (legally) and returned with big campaign energy. Inspired by what other students were up to, I launched my own crusade for Digital Literacy: decoding fake news, reading stats like a pro, and using AI without getting reported to the Academic Integrity team. I am still working on it.
๐งถ Crafternoon: Therapy, But with Glitter
Every week, Crafternoon served up wholesome vibes: crochet, painting, coaster beads, among other activities. We even hosted a special Men’s Mental Health Week edition with the Wellbeing team because real men paint their own album cover.
Crewe Campus didn’t miss out either. We had sip and paint and coaster beads.
Oh, and I run a monthly online book club. The link is on the website!
๐ Culture Fest: Free Food and Global Grooves
One word: EPIC. At least that is what Blossom said. Culture Fest brought the house down with free food (yes please), culture stalls, and performances by our societies. We wrapped it up with a DJ night that made you forget you had 9 a.m. lectures the next day. Worth it?
๐งโ๏ธ Destress Fest: Like a Spa Day, But Student Budget
Two glorious weeks of stress busting which included coloring, clay modelling, picnic by the river, a bungee run (because launching your friends 10 feet backwards is self-care too), and of course, snacks. So many snacks.
๐ฑ Network Power Moves
- Earth Day saw our Sustainability Network lead, Thisaga, lead a photography competition like a pro.
- Max (LGBTQ+ Network Lead) and Shanua (Women Network Lead) teamed up for a Lesbian Visibility Games Night.
- Megan (Mature Network Lead) and Charlotte (PostGrad Liason) hosted a wholesome Coffee & Chat, proving once again that caffeine and good convo are a match made in heaven.
โจ In Summary: We Slayed.
Spring Term was a wild, colorful, snack-fueled rollercoaster of joy, creativity, and communit
