On the 14th of March 2023 the University of Buckingham Royals Korfball club organised a four versus four tournament.  This was a charity tournament which was raising money for Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors without borders) and the Korfball club partnered up with the university’s own Friends of Médecins Sans Frontières society.

The competition itself was held at Buckingham school and consisted of 7 teams competing for 1st place. Each team were required to have 4 players (2 boys and 2 girls) as per the rules of Korfball.  We first started with a round robin where all 7 teams played each other once. Each of the teams played really well with over 150 goals being scored over all the matches and great competitive spirit was shown.  We then proceeded into the semi-finals where we had 4 teams compete. This then led to us having our 3rd place match and then our finals.

A big thank you to everyone who came to support, including Sarah and the BSU Executive team. A big thank you to my fellow Korfball execs who helped me plan, organise, ref and run the tournament as well.

Overall we were able to raise £273.75 for the charity and we thank everyone who donated and supported the cause.

The President of the Friends of MSF Society also had a few things to say about the event:

"The University of Buckingham Korfball Club organised a charity tournament in support of Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) which took place on the 14th of March 2023. The Buckingham chapter of Friend of MSF is very grateful to the club organisers and all the participants of the tournament for their contributions. The donations are going directly to MSF and will support front line operations in regions of need, most notably Syria, Turkey and Ukraine. MSF is active in over 72 countries around the world, primarily focusing on medical aid in countries experiencing conflict or post-disaster relief, specifically A&E and humanitarian support. Thank you to everyone who contributed!"

We now look forward to the next few months where the Korfball club have multiple tournaments coming up and more exciting events.
