Welcome (back) to Buckingham!
Hello everyone, and welcome, whether this is your very first time stepping onto our frosty campus at this time of year, or you’re back for another year of pulling all-nighters to meet deadlines, ordering £2 pizza slices from Louis’ after 11pm, and ready to make more memories. Welcome back, we missed you.
To our new students, arriving in a new place can feel exciting, nerve-wracking, and a little overwhelming all at once, especially if this is your first time studying away from home or in the UK. But please know this: you are not alone. You’ve joined a community that genuinely cares about you, and the Students’ Union is here to make sure you feel settled, find your people, and get the best possible start to your life here at Buckingham.
To our returning students, welcome back. I hope you’re as ready as I am for another year of opportunity, to lead, to mentor, to create, and to shape our campus community in ways only we can. This is your chance to build on everything you’ve already learned and leave your mark.
The Students’ Union is your point of contact for support and representation. We exist to amplify your voices, fight for what matters to you, and ensure that your time at Buckingham is memorable for all the right reasons. And yes, we also throw some great events. From parties and socials to campaigns, sports clubs, and societies, there truly is something for everyone, so do get involved and make the most of it.
This year, the SU team and I are committed to making the Students’ Union feel approachable, inclusive, visible and fun. We want every student to feel confident stepping into our space knowing they will be heard, supported, and advocated for.
So, whether you’re new or returning, here’s my invitation: jump in, get involved, and make this year yours. Say yes to new experiences, ask questions, share ideas, and don’t be afraid to get stuck in. I’m genuinely excited for the year ahead and can’t wait to see what we achieve together.
Welcome back let’s make it a great one.
