Updates from Faculty Liaisons

  • GM: had introduction with Rosie (faculty quality manager for FCLP), believes that SALT meetings should be reinstated

  • JM: planning on hosting coffee + chat with GM, need a date for this

  • SL: consensus in med is students don’t feel like they’re being heard with, working damage control and working with students to adapt to changes rather than reversing them, attended 2 meeting (ALTC, SSLC), med have shut down any little changes suggested but still working on this with MB. Main issue was forced but non monitored attendance – staff are now standing at the back of classes to monitor people chatting (this was something also noted was an issue in FBHSS by MG)

  • Attendance was an issue noted across faculties for this, disruptions, arriving late, arriving just to sign register etc

  • GM noted that the scanning of ID in med was good though and could be implemented in other faculties

  • BB – webinar tomorrow, students have asked about funding

JM, GM, SL, BB

AOB

  • SEA – noted that the business school is saying you have to use AI (module: PFYC with IE), they are docking points if no AI is used, 10% of grading is based on AI usage, MG added this dumped on students after Christmas, no real training for this

  • CN also noted they had something similar to this in LLM, Beenish mentioned this last year, marking on quality of prompt etc
