Students Success at BUCS!!

BSUfencingjudoSports

On Saturday 26th February 2022 two of our students represented the University at Individual BUCS competitions in Fencing and Judo.

Vincent Franz who is studying a Masters in Security, Intelligence and Diplomacy travelled to London to compete in the London and South East competition.  Competing in the Men's Epee event in a field of 15 it was set to be a good day of competition.  Vincent made it through to the final where he met a student from Brunel University and it was a tight affair with Vincent taking the gold medal with a 15-14 win.

Matthew Sexton who is studying a PGCE travelled to Walsall to compete in the BUCS Judo Championships.  Competing in the Men's (1 Kyu & Above) Under 100kg category the athletes were split into two pools where in order to progress a top 2 finish was needed.  Matthew came second in his pool finishing behind the current British Champion which secured him a semi-final spot.  In the semi-final Matthew lost to a student from Keele but this was a fantastic performance to claim the Bronze medal.

Well done to both Vincent and Matthew for their achievements over the weekend - we are really proud of you!!
