BSU Members Summer Term Update - a letter from your BSU President

BSUclubsSports

Dear member,

I hope you are well; I am writing to you all to give the second BSU update of 2023.

What the BSU Exec have been working on in the past term

  1.      The check-in service system for all sports clubs to contact a BSU executive has proven to be very effective. We have been informed about the needs of sports clubs and this has allowed sports clubs to progress and develop.
  2.      We have also been working on the upcoming sports & societies awards. We had the difficult decision of shortlisting both individuals and sports clubs for the awards and deciding the winner for BSU sports personality of the year.
  3.      We hosted an interclub competition on Strava to encourage members to stay active over the non-med break. 1763.74 miles was logged from 8 sports clubs, with Women’s Football taking the win of logging 736 miles.
  4.      We hosted the ‘Ibiza White Party’ on Buckingham campus which was a sell-out and we hosted a ‘Sports Festival’ in Crewe which was also highly successful. We are looking to host a football match in Crewe this term and have organised another BSU party.
  5.      We have also organised weekly summer sports sessions, please come along to these! All the details are on the ‘What’s on’ page on the SU website!

The BSU executive would like to recognise notable events from the previous term of the following sports clubs:

Women’s football: The women’s football team won an astonishing 8-1 against Cranfield ladies on their first 11 a side match together.

Netball: Congratulations to Bucks Tornadoes who won the spring Division 2 league. We wish them all the best in Division 1 next season!

Badminton: the BSU would like to congratulate badminton execs Aditya and Sandipan on competing in the BE Tier 4 Bucks tournament.

Korfball: Korfball competed in 2 Summer tournaments, a 4v4 and an 8v8.

We would also like to give a special shoutout to the April, May, June and July’s BSU member of the month: Ajax Ho from Korfball and Volleyball, Ashleigh Hearn from Netball, Chun Yam Lam (Otto) from Rugby and Senudi Samaraweera from Netball.
